Harry, Arthur, and a friend called Hicks all worked for W.H.Smith’s. In New Zealand he dealt in books and magazines, eventually having his own book shop and newsagents. They took in lodgers. Harry and Hicks (and families) emigrated to New Zealand about 1913, moving round Wellington, Christchurch, Invercargill, Dunedin, and eventually settling at Timaru. My heart shaped ring with the blood stone came from him.
