The New Theatre at Ashby Road in Loughborough (a temporary structure of wood and corrugated iron) opened on 15 September 1896 with “Sydney Vereker’s No 1 Company” in “Jack of Hearts” written by Mr Vereker himself.
1901 census he is at 8 Terrace Gravesend Kent, visitor, a theatrical manager, aged 28, married, born Barrow in Furness,
Marie Vereker visitor actress, married aged 36 born Yeovil Somerset
Esme T. B. Vereker visitor, aged 5 months born Birmingham.
There are several other actors in houses on the same street and it is close to Harmer Street where there once stood the Grand Theatre of Varieties (1900, it had been assembly rooms earlier)
