Ipswich Journal Saturday September 29th 1866
Thomas FLEGG of Theberton, gamekeeper, was charged with having on 24th August at Theberton unlawfully assaulted Joseph CORNISH of Westleton, fish dealer.  The evidence in this case was of a very conflicting nature and the Magistrates dismissed the case.  Mr MOSELEY appeared for the Complainant and Mr READ for the Defendant.  There was a counter-charge against Joseph CORNISH who was charged with having, on the 30th August at Leiston, unlawfully assaulted the said Thomas FLEGG. Defendant pleaded guilty and was fined ?2 including costs, which he paid under protest. (Transcription by Diane Johansen on Suffolk List)
