Daniel Bayly was baptised at Woolwich Church in 1811. He married Susannah Borthwick (who was supposed to be related to the Borthwicks of Borthwick Castle) in 1834 at St. Andrew by the Wardrobe, London. In 1840 he had a coffee-house in Cannon St. London, but by 1843 was working as a carrier's agent for Pickford's at Camden. He then worked as a railway agent, moving to Watford by 1870. After Susannah died in 1876, he was married a second time to Jane Austin (known as Jennie) moving back to London, where Jennie had a confectioner's. He died in 1897 at Forest Hill London.
