Sydney James Edmund Bayly was born on 25 Feb 1878 in London Chiswick. On 26th July 1913 he married Annie Sprague. He was an analytical chemist. He was a keen philatelist, and encouraged all the family to take an interest. He also gathered a lot of information about the history of the family, much of which was passed on to Douglas Bayly. He died in Herne Bay Kent, on 8 Aug 1973. Annie, his wife died in 1978.
