The Bradley family were based primarily in Watford and in London Westminster. In an indenture of 1761 John Bradley is described as a "Joiner", however he owned property on Long Acre, and in Watford. Edmund Bradley, John's great-grandson married Margaret Haswell in 1828, and he owned a piano and music warehouse in Hereford where most of their large family were born. They moved to Watford before 1861, where Edmund was renting out a number of properties, was buying shares in various companies, and owned part of a brewery. Margaret was working as a "Professor of Music".
