Woolwich, 'of Mottingham'

In ‘our’ archive he is sometimes called Michael, and sometimes Zachary. However in the Freedom of London document in CLRO it says he is Michael. [There is a Captain Zachary Bayly in the RA, perhaps this caused the confusion, (listed in J.Kane "list of Officers".)] Michael Bayly is not shown in J Kane at all , although Clerks of Stores were listed. In the CLRO document Freedom of London that his son Daniel was given, he is " a conductor, and afterwards clerk of the stores belonging to the field train" D.R.Bayly says he can remember sitting on military baggage train when they moved. He also says that Michael had military funeral when he died. Michaels brother had 'Old Boar's Head' at Gravesend.

references to Michael , his brothers and sisters, and his children, in the St. John's Eltham baptism record always say 'son (or daughter) of Michael of Mottingham

1784 he is no longer the assessor
1787 also shows him renting from John Hucker, presumably the same as Hooker.
In in 1792 and 1797
1800 in renting only from Sir John Shaw.
Not in in 1801, and it then looks as thought the land returned to Sir John Shaw.

In Parish register entry 365. Michael Bayly of this parish widower and Jane Maria Snellson of this same parish spenster married by banns 6 Dec 1796 by me D.Gilson curate. Both sign. Witnesses were Joseph Snellson. Thos. Jon. Snellson Elizabeth Martha Snellson, and Ann Edwards.

Also from same register is Joseph Clark BAYLY of St Margaret New Fish St (part of St Magnus parish) batchelor married Ann Lewis RAYNOR of the same parish spinster by banns 7 July 1811 by robert CROSBY curate, both sign. Witnesses were Michael BAYLY and Elizabeth BAYLY

Michael Bayly's Will (junior) 20 December 181380

This is the last Will and Testament of me, Michael Bayly, of Woolwich in the County of Kent, Gentleman.

I will and direct that all my just Debts and my funeral and testamentary charges and Expences may be fully paid and satisfied, as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. And after payment thereof and subject thereunto

I give and bequeath unto my dear wife, Jane Maria Bayly, Al my Leasehold and other messuages, Lands, Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever, And also all my ready money in the Public Funds, Money out on Mortgage and other Security: And also all Bonds, Bills, Notes, or other Securities for Money; And likewise all my household Furniture, Plate, Linen, China, Watches, Books, Rings, Jewels and all and singular other my personal Estate of every description, and wheresoever situate and being

To hold to my said wife Jame Maria Bayly, her Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever, for her and their own proper use and benefit

And I do hereby appoint my said wife Sole Executrix of this my will and hereby revoking all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made, do declare this only to be my last will and testament
