Obituary in Nambour & North Coast Advertiser of 24 September 1943 says that he was 74, and had been schoolmaster for 34years. He evinced particular interest in British Israel, and Destiny of the British Empire Movement, and was a J.P. He came out on the Duke of Argyll in 1898 for family health reasons, can commenced beekeeping and fruitgrowing. He was buried at Woombye Cemetery. It says his daughter Christine had died just 2 weeks before.

Nambour & North Coast Advertiser of 8 Jun 1934 reports his retirement as schoolteacher after over 33 years. He claims to have walked over 7000 miles just going backwards and forwards to school, and had missed only one day through sickness.
