He m. ca. 1906, Evelyn Smith, b. ca. 1886, England, and living in Philadelphia in 1910, a police officer. She apparently died or they divorced by the time of W.W. I, Walter listing his mother rather than a wife as his nearest relative on his draft card: he was farming at Phoenixville, Chester Co. at the time. By 1920, he was in Schuylkill, Chester Co., Pa., married to Elizabeth, b. ca. 1884, Pa., while in 1930, he was still living in Schuylkill, having remarried to Grace, b. ca. 1891. He was working for Ehret Mfg. Co. in Port Kennedy, Chester Co. in 1942, being 5'6", 175 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes and light complected. He had lost a finger on his left hand.
